NRO Publishes RIR Governance Matrix

The five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) operate within robust governance frameworks that ensure effectiveness of their corporate structures, transparency of processes, and accountability to members and communities. These frameworks vary across the five RIRs, according to legal requirements and regional policies, but all are transparently accessible and publicly documented.

The NRO has published a matrix providing an overview of the governance frameworks of the RIRs. This page is intended to serve as a reference for the global Internet community, and provides a structured overview of various aspects of RIR governance, with links to source documents on the respective websites of the RIRs.

This is a public document that will be reviewed and revised annually, or as needed.

As the global Internet community considers changes to some of the Internet’s key administrative functions, it is especially important that the stability, accountability and legitimacy of all relevant organisations be transparent and well documented. This matrix is the result of work by the five RIRs to provide all Internet stakeholders with straightforward access to this information and contribute to a well-informed global discussion.
