The Number Resource Organization (NRO) has expressed its support for the Internet Governance Forum (IGF) and pledged to continue its financial and technical support. The NRO is offering USD 100,000 to support the IGF Secretariat in 2013. The 2013 IGF will be held in Bali, Indonesia.
In a statement on the NRO’s submission to the IGF Open Consultations, the organization says the forum has proved its worth as a forum for discussing a broad range of governance issues raised by the Internet’s exponential growth.
The NRO – representing the five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) – says the IGF has become an important global platform for discussing issues relating to technology development, use and impact. The forum also offers space for open, transparent, multi-stakeholder dialogue. Consequently, the NRO says the support offered will help the IGF facilitate and encourage greater participation from a wide range of actors and sectors, and bring on board new speakers and participants.
