Response to ITU IPv6 Group on Country Internet Registry (CIR) Model
At the second ITU IPv6 Group meeting, held in September 2010, it was decided to send a number of Liaison Statements to organizations with expertise or an interest in the issues under discussion at the IPv6 Group. Liaison Statement 5 included a specific request for responses from the IETF, IAB, ICANN, ACSIS, and the NRO.

On 28 February 2011, the four RIRs that are ITU sector members submitted a response on behalf of the NRO to Liaison Statement 5 – Country Internet Registry (CIR) model, which asked organizations to assess the impact of the NAv6 paper, ‘Concerns on IPv4 Address Policy with regard to IPv6 Deployment’.
In this submission to the ITU, the NRO explains the current function and ongoing success of RIR model, and provides its position on the proposed CIR model.
